Ian enjoys the benefits of working for a niche consultancy with a stellar reputation in the areas in which it operates. He is also an accredited coach, which he finds particularly useful when helping candidates maximise their potential during the interview process.
In his spare time, he too enjoys being a Dad and favourite topics of conversation include cooking, football and mountain walking.
After working in Employment Law for 10 years, Diana joined Harvey Sutton in 2009 as their Office Manager but since beginning of 2022 has joined the recruitment team, making several successful placements. She enjoys the interaction with clients and candidates - finding it more exciting that reconciling accounts!
Spare time is rare, but friends and work colleagues would probably say her favourite pastime would be researching for her next holiday!
In today’s world of on-line portals and algorithmic software selection, many candidates never really get a chance to shine in front of a client. Their application is assessed by a computer program which harvests what it believes to be the best CVs for the role being recruited and discards the rest. No feedback following rejection, it’s just a “thanks but no thanks” automated response.
We see this type of filtering process becoming increasingly common but herein lies the problem: human characteristics are not the same as two dimensional pieces of code that can be uploaded, tabulated and processed. LinkedIn is great in theory, but your uploaded application is simply one algorithmic statistic amongst hundreds.
Having someone who knows you and the market you operate in well can make all the difference. If you want to find a job which satisfies, then working with an intermediary who can bypass the website portals and HR filtering, and instead liaise directly with the hiring Partner, can play a big difference to a CV submission. If you want to short-cut the competition, then use an agency that has operated in your field over 30 years, knows the market inside-out, and has a history of helping with client decision-making.
Why use Harvey Sutton? The recruiting Partners of today were more than likely our candidates of yesterday. It really pays to work with people who know your market better than you may think.
