Share Schemes

Share plans are ways in which employers incentivise their staff to become more involved with the success of the business.  By offering shares in an organisation, a direct stake in the business’s success is available to the employee who wants to benefit from the hard work they put in to help the company grow.  Research suggests that there is a positive connection between employee and share ownership and company performance.  In essence, share plans take two main forms:-

  • Plans in which a relatively small number of key employees may participate, often called discretionary or executive plans
  • Plans in which all or most employees may participate, often called all-employee plans.
