We are working with this UK and International law firm who provide high quality legal advice services to both businesses and individuals, many being high net worth individuals.

Working alongside  Private Client lawyers, the firm has its own Trust and Personal Tax Administration team, providing an efficient and cost-effective accounting and tax compliance service to a diverse client base.  Their expertise covers the taxation of UK trusts, individuals, beneficiaries of non residence trusts,  remittance basis-users and the preparation of personal tax returns.   This team allows the firm to provide a full legal and administrative service to trustees, executors and individuals.

Providing assistance to the Trust and Tax Director, and supporting the wider Private Client team, your key tasks will  include:

  • Undertaking fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the division.
  • Leading on client relationships, progressing matters to successful conclusion.
  • Liaising with clients, intermediaries and tax authorities
  • Identifying / advising on tax-planning opportunities for clients.
  • Supervision and preparation of:
  • Trust and estate accounts
  • Company and personal, estate and trust tax computations
  • HM Revenue & Customs forms associated
  • Various accounting reports for UK and overseas tax compliance matters
  • Assisting in overseeing the team’s caseload of individuals, trusts and estates.
  • Preparation of tax forms including SA100, SA900, IHT100, CT600
  • Preparing CGT calculations
  • Preparing trust accounts
  • Preparing estate accounts
  • Preparing 60 day CGT submissions
  • Preparing non-resident trust tax pool calculations
  • Active involvement in business development opportunities for the firm
  • Supporting /mentoring Trainee Tax and Accounts Manager.

Requirements for the role:

  • Previous experience working from an accounting background, advising private clients
  • Minimum ATT qualification required
  • Knowledge and experience of UK Trusts
  • Ability to supervise a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Competent user of business information systems and in particular advanced user of MS Excel
